The Rally of the Guinean People (RPG) has joined the large coalition of political parties to denounce the transition timetable proposed by the junta.
Treason for some, marriage of convenience for others. Everyone has commented on the membership of the Rally of the Guinean People (RPG) in the Group of 58 political parties (G58) led by Cellou Dalein Diallo’s Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG).
“Ah politicians! How can you make a pact with the devil for hidden interest? This is an insult to the memories of all the victims of Alpha Conde,” protested Ataoulaye Mo Bantignel on Twitter. On the same social media platform, Thierno Bah invited his compatriots to “open their eyes” because “politics, as practiced in Guinea, is unhealthy. Therefore, it is not worth it.”
For Alpha Amadou Diallo, Cellou Dalein Diallo “should not deal with them (RPG and allies). They are dying. We might as well let them rest in peace. “The RPG and UFDG do not need your moral lessons. Those who did not see this rapprochement coming are those who do politics with their hearts and not their heads,” retorted Ibrahim Oulare.
According to him, this union between these two major parties was foreseeable since September 5. The first steps were taken, according to him, when their members began to be worried by the National Committee of the Rally for Development (CNRD).
Several RPG cadres have been imprisoned since the fall of Alpha Conde. His eternal rival, Cellou Dalein Diallo, is also being prosecuted in the so-called Air Guinea case. This case concerns the sale of the airline’s latest plane and its assets.
Oulare is convinced that this alliance will endure “as long as the CNRD continues to hit the RPG and the UFDG with the same whip.” “Why reduce this coalition of political parties to an RPG-UFDG meeting,” wondered activist Moriah Kaba, even though it is not a “political alliance.” This makes a Guinean Internet user say that “people are showing bad faith on the subject.”
All in all, Dian Lelouma hopes that the three major political parties will weigh in on the transitional government that was set to last 39 months. A duration rejected by the overwhelming majority of the political class meeting on Wednesday at the UFDG headquarters. On the same day, the National Council of Transition (CNT), a legislative body, voted in favor of a 36-month transition.
