The internationally backed government in Tripoli has condemned what it described as a terrorist attack which targeted the Zuitina oil company near the city of Zallah.
In a statement shortly after the incident, the government said the act is a crime that adds to a litany of terrorist activities targeting Libyan cities.
The government blamed the war being waged on Tripoli by warlord Khalifa Hafter as the reason behind an upsurge in terrorist acts, crimes and chaos bedeviling Libya since February.
The National Oil Corporation of Libya said the latest attack underlines the danger oil sector workers are exposed to in Libya, a country riven by eight years of deadly instability since Muammar Gaddafi was ousted in an armed uprising .
Meanwhile, the battle for Tripoli between soldiers of the internationally backed government and Hafter’s forces still rages, leaving more than 65, 000 people displaced.
