APA – Kigali (Rwanda) Kenya Chief of Defence Forces, General Francis Ogolla has held talks with his Rwandan counterparts in Kigali during a visit aimed at furthering existing relations between the two armies.
During the visit, General Francis met Rwanda Chief of Defence Staff, Lt General Mubarakh Muganga on Tuesday before paying a courtesy call to the Minister of Defence, Juvénal Marizamunda.
Speaking after the visit, General Francis Ogolla said that as he was in Rwanda for the just concluded EAC member states Armed Forces Command Post Exercise (CPX) “USHIRIKIANO IMARA” in Musanze, he found it necessary to hold bilateral talks with his Rwandan counterpart.
Rwanda Defence Force and Kenya Defence Forces have had long standing partnerships in training as well as different sectors of security.
In 2011, Rwanda and Kenya signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in defence matters.
In 2014, Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya also signed another defense agreement meant to facilitate joint countering of security threats.
