King Mswati III is set to embark on an official visit to Taiwan on Wednesday during which he will seek is deepen political and economic ties between Mbabane and Taipei.
According to a statement by the Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, the Eswatini monarch is set to arrive in Taipei on Thursday for his first official visit since 2018.
The ministry Mswati was expected to hold talks with President Tsai Ing-wen focusing on development, investment and energy and would also host events to attract investment to Eswatini.
The absolute monarchy is Taiwan’s only remaining diplomatic partner in Africa and has supported Taiwan in international affairs since the countries established official relations in 1968.
Taiwan provides the southern African country with development aid, especially in agriculture, medical care and education.
