Mali’s Foreign Affairs Minister Abdoulaye Diop received the new Acting Resident Coordinator of the United Nations on Tuesday to discuss priorities for cooperation between Mali and the UN.
According to a press release from the Information and Press Office of the Malian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the new UN acting resident coordinator Kassim Diagne paid a courtesy call on Diop to discuss the priority areas of cooperation between Mali and the United Nations.
The ministry said the discussions focused on the need to implement, within a concerted framework, joint programs in priority sectors.
Diop welcomed the continued support of the UN country team for the efforts of the Malian authorities to improve the living conditions of the population.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s willingness to continue cooperation with UN agencies, funds and programmes, according to the statement.
He, however, emphasized that this collaboration must be in line with the key principles that govern public action in Mali.
