The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) successfully repelled a terrorist attack on the Koury customs border post in the Koutiala region early Wednesday morning.
The assault, which began around 6:00 a.m., was met with a strong response, resulting in the neutralization of three attackers. The fleeing assailants left behind a substantial amount of ammunition. Tragically, one civilian was injured during the attack.
Shortly after, at approximately 6:45 a.m., a drone deployed by the attackers targeted a FAMa position with an explosive device. The device missed its target, causing no casualties or damage.
These attacks occurred just days after the inauguration of a new military camp on the Koury-Koutiala axis, a move intended to bolster security in the region and deter terrorist activity.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces confirmed that combing operations are ongoing to secure the area and prevent further infiltration attempts by hostile elements.
These incidents underscore the continued efforts by armed terrorist groups to destabilize the region, despite recent losses suffered during FAMa operations. Military authorities are urging the population to remain vigilant and collaborate closely with security forces to ensure lasting peace in Mali.
