In ongoing operations against terrorist groups in northern Mali, four Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) soldiers were injured during clashes with armed assailants.
These operations, conducted on February 16th and 17th in the Gao region, resulted in the neutralization of seven terrorists and the seizure of weapons and ammunition.
On February 16th, a FAMa patrol encountered a group of terrorists operating in the region. A fierce exchange of fire ensued, resulting in injuries to four soldiers. Seven terrorists were neutralized during the encounter, and a pick-up vehicle, along with a significant cache of weapons and ammunition, was seized by the Malian forces.
Following this engagement, on the night of February 17th, FAMa conducted airstrikes targeting a group of terrorist reinforcements. These airstrikes successfully destroyed a pick-up truck and eliminated its occupants.
The targeted terrorists were known to be involved in a range of criminal activities, including restricting the freedom of movement of traders and transporters, conducting robberies, and imposing illegal taxes on local populations.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces reiterated its commitment to dismantling terrorist and mafia networks operating within the country. They emphasized the importance of continued vigilance and active collaboration from the population in the fight against these threats.
This operation reflects the ongoing efforts of the Malian Armed Forces to restore state authority and ensure the security of the population in regions affected by terrorism.
