The Moroccan city of Marrakech will from 22 to 27 November, host the African Dance Biennial, organized as part of the 15th edition of the International Festival of Contemporary Dance.
It is a meeting held in between two flagship events. On one hand, the festival “On Marche,” that has since its creation in 2005, forged a place of choice in the Moroccan cultural landscape.
On the other, the African Dance Biennial launched in 1997, with the objective of discovering talent and promoting choreographic creation on the continent.
The biennial is itinerant.
It has already been held in Luanda, Angola, Antananarivo, Madagascar, Paris, France, Tunis, Tunisia, Bamako, Mali, Johannesburg, South Africa and Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
For six days, Marrakech will vibrate to the rhythm of a rich program of master classes, conferences, film screenings on the history of African dance and choreographic performances.
Several artistic performances are scheduled in public spaces.
