The formal submission of his candidacy took place in Abidjan on Wednesday, with Mauritania’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Sid’Ahmed Ould Bouh, presenting the nomination. The election is set to occur in May 2025.
The Mauritanian Ministry of Economy and Finance stated that this nomination reflects the country’s commitment to strengthening its presence within international financial institutions and promoting the appointment of Mauritanian experts to influential decision-making roles.
Mauritania has launched a diplomatic campaign to garner support for Ould Tah’s candidacy, actively engaging with both African and non-African member nations of the AfDB Group.
The election for the AfDB presidency will be held during the AfDB Group’s Annual Meeting and Board of Governors’ session, scheduled for May 27-29, 2025.
