Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of Morocco’s National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN), has been honored with the prestigious Prince Nayef First-Class Medal for Arab Security. This esteemed award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to regional stability and security within the Arab world.
The award was presented to Hammouchi during the 42nd session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers in Tunis on Sunday. Organizers commended Hammouchi’s leadership in promoting joint security efforts and strengthening Arab representation in international security discussions.
The Prince Nayef Medal is one of the most prestigious security honors in the Arab world, reserved for individuals whose influence extends beyond national borders. The award’s secretariat specifically highlighted Hammouchi’s “effective efforts” in enhancing regional security cooperation.
Hammouchi’s contributions to regional and international security were further recognized in November 2024 when he led the Moroccan delegation at the 92nd INTERPOL General Assembly in Glasgow, Scotland. At the conclusion of the assembly, Morocco was officially designated as the host of the 93rd General Assembly, which will be held in Marrakech in 2025.
This award underscores Morocco’s growing role as a key pillar of regional and international security. In an era of emerging global threats, figures like Hammouchi exemplify the importance of transnational security networks and expertise-sharing in addressing contemporary security challenges.
