Morocco expressed its support and solidarity with the Palestinian people at this “delicate and critical stage” and reiterated its appeal to the international community and world powers to intervene to put an end to the aggression suffered by this people and its territory, Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita said in Rabat on Tuesday.
The Kingdom once again condemned and rejected the multiple Israeli aggressions against Jenin, with all its death and destruction, Bourita said during a joint press conference with his Omani counterpart, Badr Bin Hamad Bin Hamoud Al-Busaidi, at the end of the 6th session of the Moroccan-Omani Joint Commission.
The Moroccan minister pointed out that these attacks on the Palestinian territories do not contribute to creating an environment conducive to dialogue and peace in the region.
The Kingdom considered the current situation to be “very critical,” threatening any remaining hope for peace in the Middle East and fuelling extremism and violence in the region.
Stressing the centrality of the Palestinian cause, Mr Bourita said that without a just and final settlement of this issue, there will be no peace in the Middle East.
He recalled the international consensus on resolving the Palestinian issue through the two-state solution, the State of Israel and the independent State of Palestine on the June 1967 borders with East Al-Quds as its capital.
For his part, the Omani Foreign Minister stressed that the Middle East region could not enjoy lasting stability and development without a peaceful, just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.
He also drew the attention of the international community and influential states to the importance of respecting international law in order to restore the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
