The conference, co-organized by Morocco and the FAO, aims to develop practical solutions for food security and rural development across Africa.
FAO Director-General Dongyu Qu commended Morocco’s pioneering role in agri-food system transformation. He highlighted the country’s advancements in agricultural modernization and diversification, achieved through investments in modern irrigation systems, greenhouse cultivation, and aquaculture technologies.
Qu emphasized the immense potential of Africa’s youth in this sector and called for strategic partnerships and increased investment to bolster efficiency and productivity within African agriculture.
Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch addressed the conference, showcasing Morocco’s expertise in water resource management, underlining substantial investments in both drinking water and agricultural water systems. Additionally, he elaborated on Morocco’s agricultural strategies, including the Green Morocco Plan and the “Generation Green” initiative, designed to modernize the agricultural sector and enhance the livelihoods of farmers.
Moroccan Minister for Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki, emphasized the importance of ARC33 as a platform for addressing Africa’s agricultural challenges and fostering collaboration among African nations.
