During his opening remarks, Blinken noted the growing threat of IS’s expansion outside the Middle East, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. He highlighted the formation of the Coalition Focus Group for Africa in 2021, with Saudi Arabia joining last year.
Morocco’s leadership in the Global Coalition against the Islamic State underscores its commitment to combating terrorism and promoting regional stability. The country’s collaboration with international partners has been instrumental in countering the threat posed by IS and other extremist groups.
