Morocco’s Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGST) Abdellatif Hammouchi, who concluded his visit to the United Arab Emirates to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two nations on Thursday, was able to see the simulation exercises of technologies and technical solutions approved by the General Command of the Abu Dhabi Police.
The bilateral relations covered such areas as promoting technology and innovation systems, developing the fight against organized crime and state terrorism, strengthening cooperation with international bodies such as Interpol, and providing mutual support on strategic issues, particularly in the fields of geopolitics and cyber security.
The meeting with the Moroccan police chief was attended by leading Emirati defense and security officials, including Major General Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Member of the General Staff and Commander-in-Chief of the Abu Dhabi Police, Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri, Head of the Emirati National Intelligence Service, and Ahmed Nasser Al-Risi, President of Interpol.
The trip is part of an action programme developed by the Moroccan DGSN-DGST Pole to strengthen international security cooperation and develop coordination with other countries and international organizations on security issues.
During the talks, the security officials agreed to work together to improve security and expand forms of cooperation. The communiqué issued by the DGST prior to the visit stated that Morocco and the United Arab Emirates enjoy cordial diplomatic relations.
“The bilateral agreement will pave the way for the implementation of joint training programmes in various police fields. It will also facilitate the exchange of knowledge and practical experience between the Moroccan police and the General Command of the Abu Dhabi Police,” the statement said.
Among them is the Memorandum of Understanding between the DGST, represented by the Royal Moroccan Police Institute, and the General Command of the Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Saif Bin Zayed Academy of Security Police Sciences, to frame cooperation in the field of policing, increase investment in human resources in the field of security, establish a legal framework for joint legal and regulatory action, and implement the capabilities of both organizations.
During his stay, Abdellatif Hammouchi visited new security facilities in the United Arab Emirates, including the Abu Dhabi Police’s “Safe City”, an innovative project using artificial intelligence in the fields of security and traffic. He also visited factories specializing in the production of security equipment for the police.
