APA-Rabat (Morocco) Moroccan technician Baddou Zaki has been appointed new coach of the Niger national team for a two-year term, the Nigerien Football Federation (FENIFOOT) announced Thursday in a press release.
According to the FENIFOOT press release, relayed by the Nigerien News Agency (ANP), in addition to his duties, Zaki, 64 will be responsible for restructuring and revitalizing the Direction Technique Nationale, supervising and providing technical assistance to the national teams in the lower categories, and contributing to the establishment and technical operation of the elite national academy.
FENIFOOT has also set the new national coach the objective of qualifying Mena A for a major CAF or FIFA competition during his tenure.
He will be assisted by Zakariyaou Ibrahim, who has been appointed assistant national coach, according to the FENIFOOT press release.
According to the same source, FENIFOOT expresses its “gratitude to the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture for its support, and thanks the Royal Moroccan Football Federation for facilitating the conclusion of this contract.”
One of the greatest African goalkeepers in history. Badou Zaki has imbued an entire generation with his class, and is one of the few goalkeepers to have been awarded the African Ballon d’Or. Zaki has twice taken the helm of the Moroccan national football team, most notably in 2004, when he reached the final of the African Cup of Nations (AfCON), only losing to host Tunisia.
