APA-Maputo (Mozambique) Mozambique and Zambia are finalising finer details of agreements that will see the southern African neighbours strengthen cooperation in sectors such as agriculture and energy, state media reported here on Wednesday.
According to Radio Mozambique, President Filipe Nyusi revealed during a state banquet hosted in honour of his Zambian counterpart Hakainde Hichilema in Maputo on Tuesday night that joint committees of officials from the two countries are finalizing the last details of memoranda of understanding to bolster cooperation in these and other sectors.
In the agriculture sector, the two countries want to boost production and productivity by sharing expertise among their producers.
There are also plans to resume the export of electricity from Mozambique to Zambia, the radio station said.
Hichilema, who is on a three-day state visit, was due to visit a combined-cycle power plant in Maputo on Wednesday before touring the port of Beira.
A combined-cycle power station uses both a gas and a steam turbine to produce electricity.
The two countries are also looking at strengthening cooperation in mining and communication sectors.
