Bolloré Transport & Logistics in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is carrying out road and river transport operations to shore up the country’s agricultural sector.
The company promotes multimodal solutions for the supply of inputs and the transport of agricultural products in the DRC, according to a statement shared with APA.
The statement says Bolloré Transport & Logistics DRC has thus carried out on April 12, 2021, the first delivery of 36 containers of fertilizers from Central Europe and intended for the Brabanta plantation company.
The containers were received at the Port of Matadi, then transported by road and stored at the Port of Kinshasa Container Terminal (TCPK).
They were then loaded onto barges belonging to the Central African river transport company (SOCATRAF), which travelled 800km on the river, to be delivered to the Mapangu site in Kasai-Occidental province.
As part of this operation, the Brabanta Company, which entrusted Bolloré Transport & Logistics DRC with the logistics of several batches of containers of agricultural inputs, is also evacuating its production by barge.
More than 15,000 tonnes of palm oil from Mapangu will be transported to Kinshasa to be processed for the benefit of local populations.
“Bolloré Transport & Logistics DRC is thus offering the country’s agricultural sector and its operators a fast and reliable combined logistics solution. Thanks to SOCATRAF, we are able to effectively manage the vagaries of the drought on the Kasai River. All our teams are committed to promoting this multimodal solution,” said Michael Chami, Commercial Director of Bolloré Transport & Logistics DRC.
He added: “the Brabanta plantations, which have entrusted us with a hundred containers, are reinforcing our commitment to promoting this solution, which is useful for the development of agriculture in the DRC.”
