An aircraft has dropped explosives in the town of Bossangoa in the north of the Central African Republic during the night of November 27-28, targeting an army base, those of its allies, and a cotton factory.
The government of the CAR in a statement issued on Monday, said that a plane from outside the country bombed a military base occupied by its security forces and their Russian allies on the night of Sunday.
“These explosives have caused significant material damage,” the government said in the statement seen by APA.
“Reports also indicate that this aircraft after committing these crimes flew over the town of Bozoum, and took the direction of the north of the Central African Republic before crossing our borders,” the authorities said, adding that “this despicable act perpetrated by the enemies of peace cannot go unpunished.”
Bangui says it has already ordered a judicial inquiry to determine who is responsible for the attack.
But all measures have already been taken to prepare for any eventuality, he said.
The government has called for calm and vigilance and wishes to reassure the population that the security forces, its Russian allies, and the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) are on the alert to disable all subversive elements, wherever they may originate from.
