A team of the International Monetary Fund led by Jaroslaw Wieczorek is in Lomé.
After the virtual consultations last June for a new extended credit facility (ECF), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is going on the field.
Thus, a team led by Jaroslaw Wieczorek, the new mission chief for the country, has been in Togo since Monday, March 14, 2022.
During this week-long visit, talks will be held with the Togolese authorities in order to reach an agreement.
Between 2018 and 2020 Togo had already implemented this programme supported by the Bretton Woods institution, balanced by a total envelope of $ 244 million (131 billion CFA francs).
The IMF’s Extended Credit Facility supports national economic programmes aimed at restoring macroeconomic stability and sustainability, while promoting sustainable growth and poverty reduction.
It can also serve as a catalyst for mobilizing foreign aid.
