The Gambian police on Monday say it is investigating a shooting incident at a school near the country’s biggest town Serrekunda.
The incident at Wellingara Lower Basic School was reported to the police by the school’s vice principal when a student discharged a gun.
‘The police had responded swiftly and recovered the weapon, according to a statement.
Sources say a student had intended to use the gun on an unnamed teacher but left a fellow student wounded after apparently discharging the weapon.
The wound on the student not life-threatening, according to a source.
