A preliminary report from four international electoral observation missions was submitted to the authorities in Chad on Thursday, focusing on the group elections held on December 29, 2024.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Abderaman Koulamallah, received a delegation of representatives from the missions on January 2, 2025.
The missions presented their preliminary findings ahead of the provisional election results, expected on January 15, 2025.
The missions comprised 25 international observers from the African diaspora in Europe and several African nations.
Leading the teams were prominent figures, including Dr. Zalikatou Diallo, former First Vice-President of Guinea’s National Assembly and former minister, and Aissata Daffé, former minister and ECOWAS Parliament member.
Other notable participants included Amoikon Eba Jean Kouadjaman, a conflict management expert, and Edem Kodjo Komlan, a chaplain and justice of the peace.
Deployed in N’Djamena since December 25, 2024, the observers monitored pre-electoral activities and the voting process as part of efforts to support democracy and peace in Chad.
During the meeting, the delegation handed over a preliminary report highlighting positive progress in the electoral process while providing recommendations to enhance future elections.
Minister Koulamallah praised the neutral and transparent role of the missions in observing the elections. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to strengthening democratic principles and assured stakeholders that the recommendations would be considered to improve upcoming electoral processes.
