The Chadian Ministry of Youth and Sports has established a special committee to oversee the recruitment of a new head coach for the national football team, the “Sao Seniors.”
A ministerial directive announced the formation of the committee, which will be responsible for defining the criteria and procedures for selecting the new coach.
The committee will consist of representatives from the Chadian Football Association Federation (FTFA), the Chadian Olympic and Sports Committee (COST), and national and international football experts.
Its primary tasks include establishing precise selection criteria, defining recruitment procedures, setting compensation terms for the new coach, and the committee will submit a final report to the authorities for approval.
Supervised by the Director General of Sports, the committee aims to ensure a rigorous selection process that aligns with the ambitions of Chadian authorities and the public.
This initiative follows the end of Tahir Zakaria’s contract, who was appointed in February 2025. Zakaria’s tenure saw the team suffer two defeats in two matches during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
