The Association of African Clubs (ACA) has officially established its headquarters in Rabat, Morocco. This landmark decision, following the signing of an agreement on January 27th, marks a significant step towards strengthening interclub football across the African continent.
Rabat emerged as the preferred location for the ACA headquarters after a competitive selection process. Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), expressed his gratitude for the decision, stating, “This is a historic day. I would like to thank the members of the ACA for the trust placed in our country.”
The ACA, formed in 2023, aims to revolutionize African club football by enhancing the development and competitiveness of clubs on the global stage. President Lekjaa outlined the association’s strategic vision, emphasizing a complete redesign and modernization of interclub competition formats. He expressed the ambition to elevate African clubs to compete at the highest level, including the prestigious Club World Cup.
Hersi Ally Said, President of the ACA, explained that Morocco was chosen as the headquarters due to its significant progress in football infrastructure and organization. “Morocco has proven that it is ahead in terms of organization and infrastructure, both compared to the rest of the continent and at the global level,” he stated.
The establishment of the ACA headquarters in Rabat reflects Morocco’s leadership in African sports. The Kingdom has invested heavily in modern infrastructure and training programs, solidifying its position as a leading force in African football development.
The ACA, representing the six geographical zones of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), aims to unite African clubs under a common vision. “We need to close the gap with Europe and other major football regions,” emphasized Hersi Ally Said. The association plans to swiftly implement concrete projects to enhance the performance and competitiveness of African clubs on the international stage.
This landmark decision signifies a turning point for African football. With Rabat as the headquarters of the ACA, the continent embarks on a new era of ambition, professionalism, and unity in club football.
