APA-Pretoria (South Africa) President Cyril Ramaphosa has joined his compatriots in praising South African comedian Trevor Noah on winning an Emmy Award for hosting the “Daily Show with Trevor Noah” aired on US cable television network this week.
Taking to social media site X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Ramaphosa said Noah’s achievement was “no laughing matter.”
“Trevor is part of a stellar cast of South Africans globally whose diverse talents and skills are enjoyed and valued wherever they go,” Ramaphosa said.
This is the first time Noah has won the award after being nominated on five previous occasions.
The Emmy Awards are an annual awards ceremony for International and American television shows held in Los Angeles, California.
