The Moroccan civil aviation company, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), recently obtained Cargo iQ certification.
This in compliance with the Cargo iQ quality management standards for the air cargo industry, becoming the first African company to obtain this prestigious certification.
With this distinction, Morocco’s national carrier joins major global airlines, supply chain players (including freight forwarders) and leading global IT solution providers, RAM said in a statement.
Founded in 1997 by major airlines and freight forwarders within the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the Cargo iQ interest group’s mission is to create and implement quality standards for the cargo and supply chain industry worldwide.
The group now has more than 60 members from across the supply chain, including airlines, freight forwarders, ground handlers, IT solution providers, trucking services and, most recently, small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) forwarders.
In addition to this prestigious certification, which testifies to the tangible progress made by the national airline in the field of air cargo, RAM also received two additional stars in the categories of “Corporate Social Responsibility” and “Spirit of Innovation” within the framework of this certification.
Valid for a three-year period after a rigorous audit conducted by the certification body SGS, this renewable certification follows RAM’s membership within the Cargo iQ community in 2019.
The audit is aimed at verifying the compliance of member operations based on an operational master plan (MOP) that focuses primarily on standardizing processes and improving transparency by interfacing shipment data exchanges between stakeholders for accurate planning and proactive monitoring.
