The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres is preparing to appoint the long serving Rwandan diplomat, Valentine Rugwabiza, as the new head of United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic MINUSCA), a diplomatic source said on Friday in Kigali.
Ms. Rugwabiza, who was until recently serving as the Permanent Representative of Rwanda to the United Nations, is set to replace Mankeur Ndiaye of Senegal at the head of the MINUSCA, reports said.
Ms. Rugwabiza also served as Minister for East African Community since 2014.
From 2013 to 2014, she was Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda Development Board and Member of Cabinet. between 2005 and 2013,
She also held the position of Deputy Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Prior to that, she was the Permanent Representative of Rwanda at the United Nations Office in Geneva and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Switzerland.
