APA-Johannesburg (South Africa) South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party has expelled 62 of its members and public representatives with immediate effect for allegedly breaching party’s disciplinary code.
According to the EFF on Friday, the members were expelled from the party after they failed to arrange transport for supporters to attend the party’s 10th anniversary celebrations held in Johannesburg in July.
Due to this, the party said the 62 members had failed in their responsibilities and had no excuses as they had enough time to procure transport for their constituencies.
Many of the dismissed members were from KwaZulu-Natal province, the party said.
In July this year the party announced that more than 400 of its members – including lawmakers, provincial legislators and councillors – had been banned from attending the party’s 10th anniversary celebrations.
The party gave no reason for the ban.
