South African Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe is on Monday leading his country’s mining officials participating at the annual Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada Trade and Conference show currently underway in Toronto, APA has learnt.
Later in the day, Mantashe is expected to deliver a keynote address at the three-day South African Mining Investment Seminar under the theme “Accelerate investment through Innovation,” the ministry said.
Alongside Mantashe are officials from Ministry of Trade and Industry, the South African Council for Geoscience (CGS), Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC), South African Diamond and Precious Metals Regulator (SADPMR) and mineral processing research body, Mintek, according to the mining ministry.
“The seminar aims to reaffirm South Africa’s commitment to growing and sustaining the mining industry, and further confirms the country as a favourable investment destination,” the ministry said.
On Tuesday the ministry will make a presentation on recent developments and opportunities in the South African mineral sector, the country’s number one foreign exchange earner.
The show ends on Wednesday.
