Seven people including children have perished after heavy torrential rain in Sudan’s Al-Jazera State, leaving thousands more homeless in ten villages, state media reported on Wednesday.
Reports suggest an eight-year old and a 12-year old drowning in the village of Alrofaa, n the north of the country and houses being washed away by the rains which lasted between Monday and Tuesday.
Several homes in the capital Khartoum were also destroyed by the rains, prompting the Sudanese millitery to deploy troops to help in building canals to drain the water in affected neighbourhoods of the city.
