In a demonstration of effective regional police cooperation, authorities in Bissau have arrested a suspect wanted for a bank robbery in Gambia.
Ansumane Jarju, who is accused of participating in a robbery at an Access Bank branch in Brusubi on January 22, 2024, where 1.5 million Dalasis and over 2,000 US dollars were stolen, was apprehended by the Bissau-Guinean judicial police on Saturday.
The arrest followed a request for cooperation from the Gambian authorities. In accordance with the provisions of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) regional police cooperation agreement, the suspect was promptly handed over to the Gambian police.
This successful operation highlights the importance of regional collaboration in combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of citizens across the West African region.
