The second edition of the WEFE Nexus Forum takes place on February 5 and 6 in Tanger under the theme “Multi-level cooperation for resilient development: putting the Water, Energy, Food Security, Ecosystem Nexus into action.”
Organised under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI, the event will bring together political leaders, experts and national and international actors, the organisers said in a joint statement.
After a first edition focused on dialogue, this meeting aims to translate reflections into concrete actions through structuring projects and strategic partnerships.
The emphasis will be on pragmatic solutions mobilising innovative financing, public-private collaborations and advanced technologies to accelerate the energy transition, sustainable water management and resilient agriculture.
A key moment of the forum will be the signing of an agreement between several institutions to strengthen intersectoral cooperation and promote renewable energy, efficient water use and agricultural resilience.
The Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) will also present its report on optimising natural resources and reducing intersectoral risks in Morocco.
Discourses will cover strategic themes, including integrated water management, renewable energies, food security, climate resilience and financing mechanisms for sustainable projects.
Innovation will be at the heart of the debates, with a focus on agrivoltaics, green hydrogen and nature-based solutions.
A hackathon will reward the most innovative projects to address the challenges of the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus.
The forum will bring together government representatives, international institutions, private sector experts and researchers, consolidating Tanger as a hub for reflection and action on sustainable development in Africa.
