APA-Johannesburg (South Africa) Three people were killed following a mid-air collision between two small aircraft in Carletonville in South Africa, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced on Friday.
The accident involved a Cessna 182, which was carrying a pilot and a passenger, and an Air Tractor with only the pilot on board, the CAA said.
According to the CAA, emergency services swiftly responded to the crash site and found that both planes were completely destroyed in the collision.
The CAA’s Accident and Incident Investigations Division said it has launched an investigation into the incident and preliminary results of the mishap would be ready in a month.
The probe is aimed at providing insights into the tragic event and eventually contribute to aviation safety measures.
