TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc has partnered with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation to promote climate action in Nigeria.
Speaking at the partnership event at Victoria Island, Lagos State, the Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc, Dr. Samba Seye, said: “It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the TotalEnergies Green Initiative on Climate and Environmental Preservation. Today, we gather here to underscore our commitment to protecting the environment and promoting climate action while raising awareness among our communities and young individuals.
“As part of this initiative, we strive to meet some of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. We achieve this through various activities, including employee volunteering, creating awareness about the journey towards a circular economy, and educating our communities on the importance of environmental protection. Our goal is to leave behind a sustainable world for future generations.
“This project is being implemented in collaboration with our esteemed partners, the Nigerian Conservation Foundation, who are experts in environmental conservation. Together, we are making a tangible impact on our environment and fostering a culture of sustainability.”
Seye disclosed that on December 13, 2024, they engaged six schools near their service stations in Apapa and Surulere with the Green Initiative on Climate and Environmental Preservation.
He added,” During this event, we donated recycle bins to each school and organised a clean-up challenge to emphasise the importance of recycling and its environmental benefits. Today, we are delighted to extend this initiative further. With the participation of our dedicated employees and station staff at Victoria Island, Lagos, we are donating recycling bins to four additional schools and organising another clean-up challenge. This brings the total number of schools benefiting from our recycling bin donations to 10.
“As a responsible corporate entity, TotalEnergies encourages our communities to maintain environmentally sustainable practices and contribute to a cleaner world. By taking part in these activities, we are fostering a spirit of environmental consciousness and responsibility. Once again, I welcome you all to this event. Let us continue to work together towards a greener, more sustainable future.”
In his remarks, NCF’s Head of Department, Environment Education, Adedamola Ogutuga, said: “At the core of what we do at the Nigerian Conservation Foundation is sustainability, education, and conservation geared towards healthy practices to preserve the environment for present and future generations.”
“Partnering with TotalEnergies for the Green Initiative aligns perfectly with our commitment to fostering a greener economy and responsible consumption. Through this initiative, we are empowering young minds across the ten schools with the knowledge and tools needed to protect the environment, reinforcing our shared vision for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Nigeria.”
