The former Tunisian Football Federation President, Wadie Jary, was sentenced to four years in prison for corruption on Thursday.
The conviction of the former Tunisian Football Federation President Wadie Jary follows a “judicial complaint filed regarding the illegality of a contract concluded between the Federation and a technical director,” a spokesperson for the Ministry of Youth and Sports said.
According to L’Équipe his lawyer, Kamel Ben Khelil, announced that he would appeal.
Wadie Jary had been placed in pre-trial detention since October 2023. The former president of the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) marked his term with several initiatives and achievements for the country’s football.
