The region is facing a growing humanitarian crisis, exacerbated by conflict, violence, and climate shocks. Millions of people are struggling with food insecurity, malnutrition, and limited access to essential services like healthcare and education.
The UN has highlighted the urgent need for increased funding to address the complex challenges facing the region. The Democratic Republic of Congo, in particular, requires $2.5 billion to assist 11 million people affected by various crises, including the outbreak of a mysterious disease.
Other countries in the region, such as Chad, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, and Mali, also face significant humanitarian needs. The UN is calling on the international community to provide substantial support to these countries to alleviate the suffering of millions.
