The United States reiterates its support to Morocco plan to provide autonomy to its Western Sahara enclave.
US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken said his country was fully behind the Moroccan autonomy plan to bring a definitive end to the regional conflict in the territory, noting that Washington continues to consider this plan as “serious, credible and realistic,”.
Blinken was quoted by the US department statement on Monday.
During their talks, the Secretary of State and the Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita “affirmed their full support for the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General, Staffan de Mistura, in promoting a lasting and dignified political solution” to the regional conflict, according to the statement.
Mr Bourita is on a working visit to Washington as part of ongoing consultations to consolidate the strategic partnership between Morocco and the US and to consult on various regional and international issues.
