The United States government has implemented restrictions on the issuance of entry visas from its embassy in Chad.
A notification sent to the Chadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Chadians Abroad states that the visa restrictions, effective for 90 days starting March 25, 2025, apply to tourist, business, and student visas.
Diplomatic visas and individuals holding valid visas or resident cards are exempt from the restrictions and can continue to travel to the United States, according to the Chadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry’s note also clarifies that Chadian nationals can still submit visa applications to other U.S. embassies located outside of Chad.
The Chadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed regret over the decision and affirmed its willingness to cooperate with U.S. authorities to understand and address the reasons behind the restrictions.
