Voters came out early on Saturday to cast their votes in the presidential and Parliamentary polls.
According to officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) about 99 per cent of the polling stations opened early and voting commenced without hitches except in two reported cases where the biometric devices malfunctioned and were immediately rectified.
The official said a few hours to the close of voting at 5 pm they had not received any reports of violence, fighting nor snatching of voting materials and that the exercise had been largely peaceful.
The officials added that call centres were opened in various voting booths for voters and officers to report any incidents of malfunctioning of the electoral materials and any disruption of the electoral process.
Meanwhile, the results of the winners of the parliamentary polls will be declared after the votes have been counted, while the result of the presidential election will be announced by the head of the EC after the results have been collated from all the 16 regions of Ghana and the final result may not be known until Monday or Tuesday next week.
