The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has awarded a United Arab Emirates company the contract to print ballot papers for the 2026 general elections, ECZ chief electoral officer Brown Kasaro announced on Monday.
Speaking to journalists in Lusaka, Kasaro said the electoral body was forced to disqualify South Africa’s Ren Form CC, which had initially been awarded the contract. The South African firm had failed to meet certain requirements.
As a result, the contract was awarded to Al Ghurair Printing and Publishing of UAE, which had come second best during the adjudication process.
In addition to the contract announcement, Kasaro revealed that the commission would conduct a mass voter registration in the second quarter of 2025, ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The voter registration exercise will run for 60 days.
Kasaro also said the commission would carry out the Certification of the Register of Voters for the 2026 general election in April 2026.
