APA-Lusaka (Zambia) Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping have agreed to elevate bilateral relations between the two countries to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, according to reports monitored here on Friday.
This emerged from a meeting in Beijing on Friday when Xi hosted Hichilema who is on a six-day state visit to China.
According to Chinese state media reports, Xi called on both countries to enhance friendship and cooperation, as well as strengthen solidarity and collaboration.
He also said China and Zambia should safeguard the common interests of developing countries.
Hichilema is on a state visit at the invitation of Xi that commenced on September 10 and is due to end on Saturday.
