APA – Harare (Zimbabwe) – UAE-based satellite operator Yahsat has announced a partnership with SATCOM Technologies to provide state-of-the-art satellite communications solutions in Zimbabwe.
In a move to expand its presence in Africa, Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat) has entered into a strategic partnership with SATCOM Technologies in Zimbabwe.
According to a press release to APA on Wednesday, May 29, the alliance aims to provide “innovative, reliable and efficient satellite connectivity solutions” to meet the country’s needs.
The two companies will be able to work closely with the Zimbabwean government to secure projects in several key sectors, including mining, agriculture, health and education. The services are expected to go live in June this year.
“We are proud to partner with SATCOM Technologies to bring our state-of-the-art satellite connectivity solutions to Zimbabwe. This strategic partnership demonstrates our commitment to improving connectivity across the continent, supporting the digital transformation journey of African nations and increasing access to essential services for all,” said Sulaiman Al Ali, Chief Commercial Officer of Yahsat, as quoted in the release.
Tafadzwa Collins Semu, CEO of SATCOM Technologies, said he was “delighted to join forces with Yahsat to unlock the immense potential of satellite connectivity in Zimbabwe. Our partnership will play a pivotal role in bridging the digital divide, driving economic growth and providing access to vital services for our communities.”
This new partnership is part of Yahsat’s expansion strategy in Africa, where its solutions have already been deployed in several countries to support economic development. The launch of the next-generation Thuraya 4 satellite later this year is expected to further strengthen the group’s coverage and services across the continent.
