Zimbabwe’s Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube has been ranked among top five treasury heads in Africa for 2021 by a France-based publication Financial Afrik.
According to the publication, Ncube is ranked among the continent’s top finance ministers together with Benin’s Romuald Wadagni, Nicolas Kazadi of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mauritania’s Ousmane Kane and Zainab Ahmed of Nigeria.
“I am very pleased to have been voted and ranked in the top 5 Ministers of Finance in Africa in 2021 by the French publication “Financial Afrik”,” Ncube tweeted on Wednesday.
He said the ranking was “based on a popular vote and qualitative analysis of candidates, and considered by a jury.”
The ministers were judged to have implemented transformative economic policies with results.
Ncube has, however, come under fire from critics who argue that his successes have only been on paper and that his policies have failed to transform the lives of ordinary Zimbabweans who continue to languish in abject poverty.
