APA – N’Djamena (Chad) – The Minister of State, Secretary General of the Presidency of Cameroon, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh to end a row over a nationalised firm.
The head of the administration of the Etoudi Palace arrived in N’Djamena on April 26, carrying a sealed message from President Paul Biya to his Chadian counterpart, Mahamat Idriss Déby.
The move comes against the backdrop of a row between the two neighbours caused by the nationalisation of the assets of Esso Chad.
At the end of the audience, Ngoh Ngoh said he had conveyed a “message of friendship and brotherhood” from his leader to his Chadian counterpart.
During the audience, all issues relating to bilateral relations were discussed.
While there are fears of an escalation between the two countries over the management of the Chad-Cameroon pipelines, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh gave assurances that the age-old relations between the two neighbours, which have always been excellent will remain so.
“Some misunderstandings have been cleared and there is really no cloud on the relations between Cameroon and Chad,” he said.
According to him, the two leaders are “ready to continue to work to strengthen these relations for the good of their states and peoples.”
On April 20, N’Djamena decided to recall its ambassador in Yaoundé for consultations.
At issue was the signing of an agreement by a subsidiary of Savannah Energy to transfer 10 percent of the share capital of the Cameroon Oil Transportation Company (COTCO) to the National Hydrocarbons Company (SNH).
However, Chad has decided to nationalise the assets and rights of any kind of Esso Chad and refused the purchase of these shares by Savannah Energy.
