South Africa has administered more than 30 million coronavirus vaccine doses since the vaccination programme started in February 2021, the health ministry announced on Thursday.
According to the ministry, the government had by the end of February 2 administered 30,031,894 doses since the start of the programme.
It revealed that the country had 16,533,662 fully jabbed adults, while some 1,261,838 shots have been given to children between the ages of 12 and 17 years.
Apart from these figures, the country has administered 628,986 booster shots to 222,069 men and 406,917 to women, it added.
According to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), the majority of 1,472 new cases recorded on Wednesday were from Gauteng province, followed by 689 in the Western Cape, 540 in Limpopo and 510 in KwaZulu-Natal.
Some 175 people died of Covid-related complications on Wednesday, with the total death toll perched at 95,463.
