The United Kingdom government has announced the appointment of career diplomat Giles Enticknap as the new British high commissioner to Botswana.
Enticknap is due to replace Sian Price who is transferring to another diplomatic service appointment.
“Mr Enticknap will take up his appointment during August 2024,” the UK government said in a statement late Wednesday.
Enticknap has served in various diplomatic posts overseas, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, Mauritania, and Zimbabwe.
He has also worked for the United Nations and the European External Action Service.
Price has served as British high commissioner to Botswana and UK special representative to the Southern African Development Community since February 2020.
During her tenure, she worked diligently to strengthen the bilateral relations between the UK and Botswana.
The UK and Botswana have a long history of diplomatic relations, with both countries sharing common membership of the Commonwealth of Nations.
The relationship between the two nations has been characterized by mutual respect and cooperation, particularly in areas of trade and security.
