Ethio-telecom has launched a new digital platform dubbed ‘Zemen Gebeya,’ aiming at enhancing digital transaction systems across the East African country.
The newly launched platform is designed to elevate the existing digital transaction system to a record high level, Frehiwot Tamiru, CEO of Ethio-telecom said while launching the platform on Friday.
The CEO said the platform will allow buyers and sellers to conduct transactions seamlessly online, eliminating physical meetings and cutting unnecessary costs.
Beyond facilitating individual transactions, ‘Zemen Gebeya’ is set to advance Ethiopia’s broader digital journey and connects businesses ranging from small enterprises to large corporations.
“The platform is also expected to contribute to job creation, productivity enhancement, and the nation’s comprehensive digital transformation agenda,” Tamiru said.
According to the CEO, the essential technological and internet infrastructure required for the platform’s full implementation is now robustly in place.
She further added that the reliability of the trading platform had been rigorously verified by relevant regulatory bodies prior to its official launch.
As to the CEO, groundbreaking initiatives such as Telebirr, alongside other technological innovations, have already yielded remarkable results in expanding digital transaction accessibility and fostering financial inclusion across the country.
