In an effort to enhance its counter-terrorism capabilities, Guinea is seeking to emulate Rwanda’s successful anti-terrorism training model.
Guinean Minister of Security and Civil Protection, General Bachir Diallo, recently visited the Mayange counter-terrorism training center in Rwanda to learn from their best practices. The visit aimed to explore ways to incorporate Rwandan training methodologies into the curriculum of the Guinean national police school.
The Mayange center provides specialized training in areas such as special forces, anti-terrorism, and intelligence gathering, equipping security personnel with the necessary skills to combat evolving threats.
General Diallo emphasized that this cooperation will play a crucial role in implementing effective strategies to counter organized crime, including terrorism, within Guinea.
This initiative comes as West Africa faces a growing wave of security challenges. Rwanda itself faces the threat of terrorism due to its proximity to the Democratic Republic of Congo, where a branch of the Islamic State operates.
By learning from Rwanda’s successful counter-terrorism model, Guinea aims to strengthen its security forces and enhance its ability to effectively address the growing security threats within the region.
