“If the year begins with the visit of two of the world’s greatest footballers, it is an opportunity for Guinea. Whether you like Guinea or not, today Conakry is the capital of world football, because the two most important figures in African and world football are in Guinea,” Sow said.
He declared Guinea’s readiness to host the African Cup of Nations in 2023.
He was speaking during a visit to Conakry by FIFA President Gianni Infatino, Fifa General Secretary Fatma Samoura and the CAF President, Ahmad Ahmad.
The hosts visited the Nongo Stadium and the Yorokoguia sports centre, before meeting with President Alpha Condé.
