Inspired by the suffering she witnessed growing up, Isha is determined to create a more equitable society for women and girls.
The passage of the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) Act in 2022 marked a significant milestone for Sierra Leone. With increased representation of women in government, the country is taking concrete steps towards gender equality.
Empowered by a UN Women training, Isha has gained the knowledge and tools to effectively address GBV. She plans to use her newfound expertise to support survivors, raise awareness about the GEWE Act, and inspire others to join the fight for gender equality.
Isha’s ultimate goal is to establish a safe haven for survivors of GBV, providing them with the support and resources they need to rebuild their lives. Her story is a testament to the power of individual action and the potential for positive change in Sierra Leone.
