The Liberia National Police (LNP) generated $3,255 from tickets issued to traffic violators between January and March 2019, an official of the institution has said.
According to Liberia National Police Deputy Spokesman Superintendent Anthony Nyanlue, during that period the LNP issued 466 tickets to traffic violators, and that 361 paid the fines imposed on them, while six (6) tickets were challenged and 25 tickets are outstanding.
He said the money was deposited into government revenue as the police’s contribution to the national budget
Speaking to reporters Thursday in Monrovia, he warned those in the constant habit of violating the vehicle and traffic laws of Liberia, stressing that the LNP was fully prepared to issue tickets to any traffic violator, no matter their status in society
Mr. Nyanlue at the same time called on owners and operators of vehicles to be mindful as to how they drive and also observe and respect the vehicle and traffic laws of Liberia for the growth and development of the country..
